Governments

Okay, I am bored, so I am going to analyze some different types of Governments, some that exist, and some that (thankfully) do not, but could.

I am not sure how fiery this is going to be, but it might be interesting. I am going to first describe the Government, then list 3 pros, and three cons.

  • Democratic Republic

Description
This is our type of government. The populous elect representatives, who vote on most laws, but certain laws must be voted on by the general populous.
Pros

      1. populous becomes very happy
      2. populous does not have total control of the government, so there can be a general direction that it moves
      3. Very stable in countries that are industrialized, and when it has a peaceful period to develop. When there is a peaceful developmental period, it becomes stable and powerful

Cons

      1. Not the most stable form of government, can easily collapse in developmental stages
      2. Does not work well in non-industrialized nations, and nations with a large amount of civil unrest
      3. Large amounts of inequality usually appear in the system, most likely causing it's eventual downfall
  • Democracy

Description
Populous votes on all laws, which are usually brought forth by a noble class, or senate. No true leader, because everyone has an equal vote in the system.
Pros

      1. populous has al the power, thus making them happy, and very small chance of revolt within the country.
      2. Usually peaceful nations, because the populous usually does not want an army.
      3. Wealthy nations, because the populous wants low taxes, and no army. Very high standard of living.

Cons

      1. Extremely unstable. Any outside force with a good amount of power can cause it to come crashing down
      2. No world-class power.
      3. Weak government, causing a lack of power in the country itself, usually a decent amount of lawlessness.
  • Totalitarian Dictatorship

Description
One dictator, maybe with some advisors controls all aspects of the country. Usually the dictator is backed by the military, to gain his power.
Pros

      1. Very powerful.
      2. No chance of civil rebellion if Dictator uses one (or both) of these two factors:
                1. control of all media outlets, stopping the spread of unrest-causing ideas
                2. Strong law enforcement, causing fear and removing all unrest at its start
      3. Strong world presence

Cons

      1. Once the dictator dies, or is assassinated, the government is dead.
      2. No rights for the populous, dictator cannot allow in order to maintain power
      3. Dictator's power is within a fine balance, can easily be offset.
  • Totalitarian Communist

Description
This is the type of government in Anthem. A government where everyone is exactly equal, and this is strictly enforced by a class that is above everyone, enforcing this equality.
Pros

      1. Very stable. No civil unrest, because people have been taught that it is either a sin, or a capital punishment to think differently.
      2. Happy Populous after the first 3 generations, because they have been taught that this is the best way of life, and they cannot believe anything different.
      3. No racism, sexism, or other discrimination.

Cons

      1. Very bad for Science, Religion, and most everything that requires thought processes. Literature, Technology, Business, etc.
      2. Any invading power would immediately defeat the country, unless the populous was all in the Army.
      3. Necessary to control, all media, to stop any hints of individuality.
  • Totalitarian Capitalist/ Totalitarian corporative

Description
A totalitarian (all controlling) government run by large businesses. A government might be present, but it would be a puppet of businesses, who manipulate laws to fit their ideas of good business.
Pros

      1. One of two things can happen in Science and Technology.
              1. Huge explosion in technology, due to the lack of laws necessitating worker's rights
              2. Stagnation of technology, because consumers are forced to buy a product, no matter how mediocre it is, under threat of punishment.
      2. Huge world presence, possibly one world government, due to the internationality of business, and the necessity of no influx of ideas.
      3. Huge amount of stability, no influx of dissenting ideas, and the immediate killing of any dissent causes an almost indestructible from the interior government. However, simple pamphlets from another country would cause chaos on a massive level.

Cons

      1. No rights whatsoever for individuals.
      2. No way to get large amounts of people to break out of the system
      3. No world power cold easly overthrow them, because of the stability within.
I do not really support any of these governments above each other. I do, however, think that there is a severe threat from some. Noticeably, the Totalitarian Corporative Government seems encroaching slowly upon America, and could thusly be VERY bad for us all
