Wikipedia (wih-ke-pee-dee-uh)

Ok, first off, the new login to Blogger sucks.

Second, I'm back. temporarily.

Third and the important part:

Mrs. Malucci (English) Doesn't like Wikipedia!

Aiee! this means war!

Not on any other topic, but definitely on wikipedia.

ok, she said "colleges don't accept wikipedia" which is true! however, Colleges don't accept any encyclopedia. When you've got a huge (and I mean huge) library at your disposal, you need no encyclopedia! you've got a gigantic building!

So, that was twisted. That's ok.

But, being more wary of Wikipedia and not using it at all? Bad idea. What Wikipedia (Wp) is good for is an overview of a topic. not an in-depth paper that you can use for a 5-page reserch paper (not alone at least).

However, if, as today, you were looking for general information on say, the dustbowl to figure out how if affected Of Mice and Men, Wp is the perfect place to look.

I looked at her pages on the dustbowl and it would have taken me 3x as long to figure out taht the dust bowl was "was a series of dust storms in the central United States and Canada in the mid to late 1930s, caused by a massive drought and decades of inappropriate farming techniques. The fertile soil of the Great Plains was exposed through removal of grass during plowing. During the drought, the soil dried out, became dust, and blew away." (taken , not stolen (GNU haha!) from Wp).

See? for that purpose, Wp EXCELS. And, interestingly, withing 3 pages I can get to the article on the Tiger (tank) or Nazism.

So: Wikipeida OWNS any encyclopedia and is a good resource for overviews.

Fourth: my science teacher puts on 70's music in class! haha and touché!
